Job Summary
Open Rank Dentistry Faculty – Part Time, DCG-General Dentistry (Macon, GA)
Regular, Full‑time position (0.75–0.99 FTE).
Location:
Augusta University – patient care conducted at the Mercer University School of Medicine Center for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, 750 Hazel Street, Macon, GA 31201.
- Competent direct patient care with effective interprofessional collaboration.
- Efficient clinic management, including patient record keeping in compliance with institutional and governmental policies.
- Previous teaching or mentoring experience with clinicians and clinical staff.
- Recognition of patients who require referral for specialty dental treatment.
- Familiarity with digital dentistry workflows.
- Organizational and communication skills as an oral health clinician supporting interdisciplinary patient care.
- Clinical/Patient Care – 80%
Provide comprehensive general dental treatment for patients at the Mercer University Center for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. - Service – 20%
Participate in relevant DCG and Mercer University committees or councils, provide administrative oversight for patient records, and complete required annual compliance training as assigned by Augusta University and the Mercer School of Medicine.
- Graduate of an ADA‑accredited dental school.
- Minimum five years of clinical experience and licensure in Georgia, or eligibility for licensure.
- Proof of completed academic degree (official transcript).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- General dentistry experience with at least three years treating special‑needs patients (e.g., intellectual and/or developmental disabilities).
- Faculty employment qualifications:
- Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and other duties.
- Successful experience (waived for new faculty meeting other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Familiarity with advanced technologies and digital workflow.
- Significant clinical experience, postgraduate training in general dentistry, or private practice experience with knowledge of practice management strategies.
- Effective care of all aspects of clinical general dentistry.
