Job Summary

The School of Health Professions at Dalton State College (DSC) invites applicants for a full-time (10 month) position in our LPN program, beginning as soon as possible. A 2-month summer contract will also be available. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the nursing sequence as well as additional courses in their area of expertise in the classroom, skills lab, simulation lab, and clinical instructing. Other duties include advising and mentoring students, keeping office hours, developing curriculum, assessment of student learning, providing service to the campus and community, and undertaking professional development.

Teaching assignments may include day, evening, off-campus, or online courses. DSC's Nursing Department has two locations, Main Campus at Dalton or the Mountain Campus in Ellijay. This position is for our Mountain Campus in Ellijay.

Candidates with a master's degree in nursing or related field may be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates with an associate's degree must earn a master's degree in nursing or related field within three years of starting date. Associate and bachelor
¿ s degree candidates would be hired as a Lecturer with consideration for promotion to Assistant Professor once master's degree in nursing or related field has been completed.

Thanks to outstanding community support, the School Health Professions has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for teaching skills to certificate and undergraduate nursing students. The interprofessional simulation center has high-fidelity computerized manikins which allows for realistic simulations for real life scenarios. These scenarios create a simulated clinical experience that requires student interventions preparing nurses for professional practice.

(6) Copy of Georgia or Multistate Compact Nursing license.
