Dalton State College School of Health Professions is seeking a part‑time Social Work instructor. The position is temporary, part‑time, and will be a semester‑by‑semester agreement based on need. Candidates must have a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE‑accredited program and a minimum of three years’ practice experience. LMSW or LCSW licensure is preferred, not required. Teaching experience in a higher education setting or as a social work field instructor is strongly desired.
Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
- Teach undergraduate social work courses, primarily micro‑practice courses (generalist).
- Teach one course (3 or 4 credit hours) per semester while accommodating a variety of learning styles and instructional strategies.
- Assess student competency for both SACS and CSWE.
- Use face‑to‑face classroom instruction only; this is not an online teaching position.
- Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE‑accredited program.
- At least three years of post‑MSW practice experience as a generalist social worker primarily at the micro‑level.
- Understanding and ability to teach and uphold the National Association of Social Workers ethical standards and the Council on Social Work Education Professional Competencies.
- College classroom teaching experience in a generalist social work program and familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards.
- LMSW licensure in good standing or LCSW licensure or eligibility in the immediate future in Georgia or Tennessee.

- Transcripts of all college work (undergraduate and graduate). Unofficial transcripts suffice for screening; official transcripts required upon employment.
- At least three professional references with full name, job title, organization, phone number, email address, and a brief one‑sentence description of the relationship. References should be current or past employers.
- Experience in micro social work practice; additional mezzo/macro/meta experience is beneficial.
- Evidence of teaching/classroom effectiveness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and use applied learning approaches.
- Commitment to supporting the Vision, Mission and Values of Dalton State College and fostering a diverse environment.
- Understanding of professional values and ethics of the National Association of Social Workers and the Social Work competencies of the Council on Social Work Education.
- Ability to educate and empower the student population.
