This position requires a valid Georgia Utility License. Applicants must already hold this license or be able to obtain it prior to employment. Candidates without a license or a clear path to licensure should not apply.
Projects range in distance from Dalton, GA but primarily fall within 150 miles of its headquarters.
Key Responsibilities Utility & Infrastructure Leadership- Lead execution of underground utility and infrastructure work, including water, sewer, storm, and associated civil scopes
- Serve as primary authority on utility means, methods, sequencing, and constructability
- Coordinate utility work with mechanical, structural, electrical, and site/civil activities
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, permitting requirements, and local authority standards
- Lead or support utility estimating efforts, including quantity take-offs, scope development, and pricing
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and civil details for constructability and risk
- Develop work plans, production assumptions, and labor/equipment strategies
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation, scope review, and leveling related to utility work
- Perform project manager–level duties for assigned utility scopes or task packages
- Develop short-interval plans, schedules, and phasing strategies for utility installations
- Deconflict utility work with subcontractors, inspectors, owners, and internal field teams
- Participate in progress meetings, coordination meetings, and site planning sessions
- Coordinate and manage utility subcontractors where applicable
- Review subcontractor scopes, schedules, and field execution plans
- Resolve conflicts between utility work and adjacent trades proactively
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety, quality, and documentation standards
- Perform regular site inspections to verify work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and permits
- Inspect trenching, bedding, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, and restoration
- Coordinate testing, inspections, and approvals with authorities having jurisdiction
- Identify and correct quality issues before they impact schedule or cost
- Identify, document, and assist in pricing change conditions related to utilities
- Support RFI development for utility conflicts, design discrepancies, or scope gaps
- Maintain accurate field documentation, daily reports, and as-built information
- Assist with closeout documentation related to utility work
- Valid Georgia Utility License (required at time of hire or obtainable prior to employment)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Construction, Electrical, or related discipline)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in utility, civil, or industrial construction
- Strong working knowledge of underground utilities, civil infrastructure, and construction sequencing
- Experience supporting or leading estimating and project management functions
- Ability to read and interpret civil, utility, and infrastructure drawings and specifications
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to visit sites
- Experience working in industrial or heavy civil construction environments
- Familiarity with mechanical or electrical coordination on utility-intensive projects
- Experience interfacing with municipalities, inspectors, and utility authorities
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)
