About The Job
A leading designer and manufacturer of award-winning, quality displays for diverse markets, including retailers in the Health and Beauty sector, is seeking a Design Engineer
. In this role, you will utilize Solid Works to produce detailed drawings and instructions for displays and fixtures tailored to the Health and Beauty/Point of Purchase market. Products are manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities using advanced technologies.
- Solid Works engineering:
Translate customer specifications into parametric 3D models, select materials, perform tolerance analysis, and validate structural integrity. - Cross-functional collaboration:
Conduct design review meetings with account management, industrial design, engineering, project management, and production teams. - Fixture validation:
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, merchandising objectives, and aesthetic standards. - CAD modeling:
Develop 3D CAD models and assemblies, plus detailed 2D engineering drawings with GD&T specifications. - Vendor communication:
Collaborate with production teams and external vendors to ensure manufacturability and quality. - Retail planograms:
Create scaled merchandising layouts to demonstrate product placement and fixture integration. - Graphic integration:
Use Adobe Illustrator to prepare scaled graphic layouts aligned with CAD drawings. - Mentorship:
Provide technical oversight to junior engineers. - Apply mechanical engineering principles to deliver innovative solutions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 3-6 years of professional experience in design engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in Solid Works (certification preferred).
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator for scaled layouts.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering drawing standards and GD&T.
- Proficiency in CAD software for complex mechanical components and assemblies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assess manufacturability.
- Experience managing engineering projects through concept, review, and production release.
- Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- High-level knowledge of manufacturing methods: acrylic fabrication, sheet metal, extrusions, vacuum forming, CNC machining, and plastic injection molding.
- Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, stooping, standing, and walking (typically under 20 lbs).
- Prolonged sitting and computer work.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions and tolerate typical plant environment.
