Overview
Job Summary:
The Tufting Lead Maintenance Tech is responsible for service and repair of all tufting related machines and equipment in the department, including facilitating preventive maintenance (PMs) and managing parts inventory.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and fix the tufting machine, warpers, and other equipment in the department.
- Responsible for correct style setup in tufting machines.
- Assist machine operators with setup as needed.
- Help machine operators on machine lines, blades, loopers, etc.
- Reblade and rehook machines as necessary.
- Rebuild and overhaul machines as necessary.
- Responsible for making first-quality carpet and notifying supervisor of any quality problems.
- Maintain and ensure machines and equipment in the tufting department have preventive maintenance performed on a designated schedule.
- Help ensure the tufting department maintains the correct types and quantities of machine parts.
- Lifting is required of machine parts and tools of various weights multiple times per shift.
- Standing is required approximately 6 hours per shift.
- Reaching, stooping, and bending are required multiple times for various durations throughout the shift.
- Must be able to operate a forklift.
- Must be able to use tools continuously during shift.
- Must be able to crawl underneath machines or atop machines if needed; occasionally climb, balance, and kneel.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read and write and do basic arithmetic.
- Computer knowledge or data entry skills are a necessary part of the job.
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Must be trained in Lockout / Tagout.
- Safety equipment must be worn as required.
- Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
- Responsible for quality and safety of own output.
