Manufacturing Supervisor - Tufting Position

Shaw is hiring for a Tufting Supervisor to support the Tufting Department at PlantWD in a supervisory capacity on the 2nd shift. The role involves continually monitoring the appropriate shift operations and ensuring compliance with all Company, Plant, and Departmental guidelines and procedures.

• Act as a liaison between the Department Manager and employees by providing an effective line of communication within the department.
• Assist employees in resolving any job‑related issues or concerns and refer them to Department Management or HR as needed.
• Ensure all SMS job procedures are effective and utilized to consistently produce quality tufted goods.
• Maintain department machinery and equipment, and execute needed repairs promptly.
• Develop personnel assignments for the shift and maintain the proper crew assignments to meet required standards.
• Support and follow Environmental and Safety procedures and programs.
• Assist the Production Planning Department and Department Management in the scheduling process for the department, including ordering yarn and setting up departmental and plant test procedures.
• Complete the appropriate paperwork to monitor and record departmental productivity, quality, and performance.
• Attend and/or conduct periodic departmental meetings, including leading a weekly First Day Back (FDB) meeting for the shift to review communications and shift performance relative to Department and Plant goals.
• Perform or delegate the performance of various jobs or procedures within the department while referring to the appropriate SMS Instructional and Procedural documentation.
• Conduct Safety and Quality audits as defined in the Supervisor’s Leader Standard Work requirements and address any findings appropriately.
• Approve and ensure conformance of product set‑up for each production order within the Tufting Department.
• Contain non‑conforming production, including quality reviews of tufted and finished rolls to determine proper disposition of production.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred experience as a trained relief supervisor or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience in carpet manufacturing and ability to identify carpet defects.
• Demonstrated good judgement, drive results, capacity to coach and support, and ability to build trusting relationships.

8‑hour non‑rotating shift; hours fall to in‑punch day, observed calendar, shift starts PM.
