Job Title
Finishing Operator
OverviewThis position is Monday-Thursday, 2:45pm to 12:45am. The employee will assemble sample boards, label hard‑surface samples, and pack them for shipping while ensuring quality and compliance with production standards.
Responsibilities- Set up totes in correct order and check with the go‑by board for color and order accuracy.
- Place swatches in position as the empty binder/board is conveyed through the workstation.
- Inspect work for correct swatch alignment, color, excessive glue, under/oversized cuts, and other material defects.
- Rework swatches/boards as needed and ensure the finished sample is defect‑free.
- Retrieve tops and topping supplies, adjust the back glue head, and install tops using glue or posts per work order.
- Set up glue heads and verify that glue is shooting correctly on boards.
- Clean lint and debris from the swatched binder/board with a vacuum.
- Check glue pot and fill as needed.
- Determine box size, package items, secure with tape or strapping, and stack onto pallet.
- Stage work area with necessary materials (labels, swatches, work order, etc.) for hard‑surface labeling.
- Apply appropriate labels to the back, front, and product on Mezz chips.
- Fill the Gluefast machine reservoir tray with cold glue and refill throughout the day.
- Visually inspect all labeling production and samples for quality defects.
- Neatly restack all labeled work onto buggies or pallets and thoroughly clean the Gluefast machine at shift end.
- Use the ink stamp to apply the w/o number on all finished boards.
- Place plastic handles on wood panels with routed oval‑shaped holes and snap them together.
- Pull and stock mezz panels as necessary and run the edge staining machine.
- Key production data into the computer throughout the day and adhere to normal work schedule.
- Participate in stretching exercises as directed by the supervisor or lead.
- Maintain a clean work area at the end of the shift and periodically during the shift.
- Facilitate safe and efficient operation by performing any duties required by the supervisor or lead.
- Stand for the entire shift.
- Walk to move material for rework or set‑up between orders.
- Squat as needed to move materials.
- Lift totes of swatches (average 10lb).
- Lift up to 50lb of hard‑surface boxes.
- Use arms and hands continuously for lifting samples and boards.
- Push buggy or pallet jack, exerting a maximum of 17lb downward force to lower the pallet jack handle and approximately 50lb of pushing force when moving loaded buggies.
- Work in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer operation, including keying production data.
- Flexibility to work at different stages of assembly as requested.
- Attention to detail for quality inspection and defect elimination.
