Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Shaw is hiring a Reliability Technician (Level
C). The Reliability Technician is an entry‑to‑mid level industrial maintenance professional responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment. In this role, you will perform hands‑on maintenance and basic troubleshooting while assisting senior technicians and maintenance leaders on more complex work. You will play an important role in minimizing downtime, maintaining product quality, and building foundational skills in reliability and maintenance practices within a team‑oriented environment.

- Adherence to standards and best practice application acquired through training and work experience.
- Learn and grow in knowledge of maintenance practices and equipment performance, understanding their impact on manufacturing processes and business objectives.
- Provide feedback on job assignment needs and improvement opportunities with peers and leadership.
- Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to highest reasonable performance levels, including mechanical systems such as power transmission components, conveyance systems, mechanical control systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot and execute repairs of equipment causing or contributing to safety, quality, downtime/productivity opportunities and issues.
- Communicate findings, identifying potential causes, and correction steps to operations and maintenance leadership.
- Execute proactive maintenance plans on assigned equipment including Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM).
- Safety practices: LOTO, confined space, PPE, PIT, fall protection, hoisting & rigging, hot work.
- Computer application – work order documentation, parts requisitioning.
- Measurement units, techniques and application of appropriate tools.
- Math skills including arithmetic, calculation, conversion of measurement units.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and make simple sketches.
- Identification and proper use of tools for work assignments.
- Proper storage and handling techniques for lubricants.
- Knowledge of power transmission component types, terms, operation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of plumbing/piping conveyance system types, terms, operation, and maintenance.
- Precision alignment techniques for indirect coupled elements, including laser alignment.
- Basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems and common cause failure modes and correction strategies.

8-hour non-rotating shift. Hrs fall to in-punch day, observed calendar shift starts AM.
