Technical Engineer
Shaw Industries is seeking a Technical Engineer to provide engineering and technical support for the extrusion of nylon, PET, and BCF carpet yarns. This role is responsible for driving process improvements, improving product quality and consistency, increasing manufacturing efficiency, and supporting the development of new products and technologies. The successful candidate will utilize engineering principles, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize product color, performance, and yield while supporting downstream manufacturing operations and final product applications.
Responsibilities- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to improve production processes and ensure quality, yield, and productivity goals are achieved.
- Study and optimize processing parameters to improve product performance, consistency, and efficiency.
- Provide technical and leadership support for root‑cause failure analysis related to significant production issues and investigations.
- Investigate product, color, and process‑related issues using structured problem‑solving techniques to identify and eliminate root causes.
- Develop, validate, and implement processing conditions for new products and manufacturing initiatives.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Development teams to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Analyze process data and manufacturing trends to identify opportunities for increased productivity and reduced waste.
- Support product quality initiatives and actively participate in Shaw’s Quality Management processes.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and technical developments through literature, training courses, seminars, and professional engagement.
- Support manufacturing operations during holidays, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple departments and levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Minimum of six months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting extrusion, polymers, fibers, chemicals, textiles, plastics, or related manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required;
Chemical Engineering preferred.
8‑hour non‑rotating shift. Shift starts AM. Support during holidays, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.
