Job Title
Prep Operator – Monday to Thursday Shift
Position OverviewMonday‑Thursday 3pm–1am shift in the Soft Surface (SS) Prep department. Work in one of four roles—stacking for cut tables, running a small or large beveler, or operating a back stamper, hole punch and labeling equipment—as required by the business or rotating schedule.
Primary Responsibilities- Grab and stack swatches on pallets or frames as they come off cut tables.
- Scan barcodes on travelers of cut swatches or strips and apply pallet tags with a scan gun for tracking.
- Assist Cut Table Operator by completing required paperwork for processed material.
- Operate and set up the large beveling machine to clean edges of large swatches.
- Use the computer and backstamp printer on the large beveler to apply backstamps to MEZZ swatches.
- Operate the hand beveler to clean edges of swatches not routed through a large beveler.
- Set up and operate the small beveling machine to clean edges of small swatches.
- Check quality of all swatches during processing and notify the bevel technician of any issues.
- Apply labels to various swatch sizes and verify printed labels match paperwork.
- Operate automatic and manual hole punches for swatches requiring holes.
- Apply backstamps, grass tags or room scenes to small MEZZ swatches.
- Perform any additional tasks necessary to aid in a safe and efficient operation as directed by the Lead or Supervisor.
- Communicate with lead/supervisor on job assignments and any shift‑time issues.
- Complete paperwork such as shortage reports and record production logs on a computer.
- Empty lint system bags for both large and small beveling areas.
- Assist with department housekeeping.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Read and record information on paper and on a computer.
- Operate scan guns and computers.
- Possess effective communication skills.
- Complete lockout/tagout (LOTO) and fall‑protection training and demonstrate knowledge.
- Comply with all corporate policies.
- Adhere to standard schedule, start/stop times, and break times.
- Meet production standards.
- Perform basic math and use a counting device.
- Read and use a measuring device.
- Write legibly.
- Previous computer experience.
- Previous experience with measuring devices.
- Frequently bend, reach, kneel, and squat while moving material.
- Push a loaded buggy/pallet jack requiring up to 35lb of force.
- Stand or sit for up to 2 hours between breaks.
- Lift 10–30lb repeatedly; maximum up to 50lb.
- Apply a 17lb downward force on a pallet‑jack handle to lift a pallet.
- Continuous use of hands, arms, and legs throughout shift.
- Work in a manufacturing environment, tolerating temperature, humidity, and noise changes.
