Position Overview

This position is Monday-Thursday 3pm-1am.

Position Objectives
  • Receive traveler form from Lead or Coordinator.
  • Retrieve appropriate style/color wood boxes from storage bins.
  • Verify board size, plank size for correct size and amount.
  • Set saw so correct length plank is cut.
  • Periodically measure swatch size to ensure that plank being cut is correct size.
  • Trim leading edge to remove tongue and groove.
  • Cut the correct swatch or strip size and quantity as specified on traveler.
  • Maintain accurate production numbers on computer on Excel spreadsheet by scanning W/O before processing and upon completion.
  • Operate Rip Saw: work on side of saw where panels are loaded, set up saw so panel is ripped to exact width specifications; work on back side or receiving side, pull panels out after ripping, neatly stack panels onto pallet.
  • Operate Router: work on side of Router where panels are lifted and placed into template; clamp panel down on left and right side; cleanly route handle hole in panel.
  • Operate Vertical Saw: make accurate measurements and set up saw to specified sizes; retrieve fiber board sheets up to 4’ x 8’.
  • Make Lead aware if saw blade becomes dull.
  • Read a tape measurer.
  • If wood planks become unusable due to damage or off‑quality, notify the Lead.
  • If an entire wood order is unusable, place the wood on a designated buggy within the department.
  • Place green dot sticker on the end of any partially filled (open) box of product before relocating in storage racks.
  • Use sandpaper to smooth edges of splintered or rough planks.
  • If the wood being processed is identified incorrectly, notify Samples QC group, complete a Quality Non‑Conformance form, and provide QC with a piece of the wood and the identification number.
  • Pull corresponding QC standard board from QC racks before processing; confirm product; return QC board to racks after completion.
  • Place waste (wood, cardboard, plastics, strap, etc.) in appropriate receptacle.
  • Have basic knowledge of computer operation.
