Job Title: Finishing Operator Assistant

This position is Monday‑Friday 3pm‑11pm.

Maintain correct and steady application of latex onto carpet, and provide assistance to coater operator and froth operator.

• Latex Application
  • Ensure carpet is feeding correctly into the precoat direct applicator and Tillotson adhesive applicator; fix and report folded carpet to Coater Operator and Sew‑on Operator.
  • Identify style to be run using Sew‑In Tracker screen.
  • Reference spec sheet to identify correct application settings for the given style: precoat and adhesive, cup weight, puddle height (precoat and adhesive), and gap.
  • Enter correct settings into the Latex Control System.
  • Manually check gap with gauges and adjust the system if necessary.
  • Visually inspect latex application and troubleshoot using the Latex Control System as necessary; notify supervisors of issues.
  • Ensure end dams are set up correctly so latex does not get on the carpet selvage; adjust end dams as necessary.
  • Repeat all steps for each style change.
  • Manually check cup weight and viscosity four times per shift and log in notebook; also for any backing or weight check requested by supervisor.
• Maintain Precoat Area
  • Ensure proper operation of pre‑coat pumps and blenders.
  • Maintain sufficient levels of soap, water, and latex tank.
  • Clean out precoat filter baskets twice per week.
  • Report any issues to supervisor.
• Coater Operator Duties
  • Relieve the coater operator for breaks and absenteeism.
  • Act as full coater operator during relief periods.
• Froth Operator Duties
  • Relieve the froth operator for breaks and slack time (when froth operator is changing secondary backing).
  • Act as full froth operator during relief periods.
• Conduct Secondary Application Weight Checks
  • Perform checks at direction of supervisor.
  • Place three two‑part paper forms on secondary after application as it rises to the marriage roller; distribute to alley side, center, and wall side.

8‑hour non‑rotating shift, hours fall to in‑punch day, observed calendar; shift starts 3pm.
