Tufting Machine Operator - 3rd Shift Dalton, Georgia,

Mohawk is looking for a Tufting Machine Operator in the Dalton, GA area. The role involves operating level loop, patterned loop, cut pile or enhanced graphics tufting machines.

• Operate tufting machine (threading and/or replacing needles, replacing cutting blades, aligning cutting blade block, hook replacement).
• Conduct machine set‑up checks (production checklist, “deck board” and backing verification).
• Compare tufted carpet to gray standard and side/center/side match.
• Perform quality inspection during production runs, mend voids in carpets as required.
• Change backing as required.
• Doff carpet rolls as required.
• Follow company guidelines and operating procedures, identify unsafe working, building and environmental conditions.
• Report any issue to supervisor or appropriate department head or crew leader for resolution.
• Ensure compliance to all company and regulatory safety and environmental guidelines and practices, including wearing appropriate safety garments, using appropriate tools and equipment, and exercising required safety behaviors for the task at hand.
• Attend any job‑related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management.

• High school graduate or GED equivalency preferred.
• Prior experience operating tufting machine equipment required, and/or equivalent combination of on‑the‑job training and work experience.
• Reading and writing in standard English and performing basic math calculations (addition and subtraction).
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• May be required to use a PC and other department‑specific database systems.

• Ability to communicate in standard English to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and keep simple records and make reports.
• Ability to work well with people.
• Ability to maintain an acceptable level of attendance in accordance with company and department guidelines.
• Ability to perform specific duties with instructions but without direct supervision.

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to walk long distances, climb on ladders, and stand for long periods of time frequently.
• Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required.
• Must also be able to work in non‑climate‑controlled facilities.
• Work environment is a noisy, high traffic production floor.
• Must be able to pass a color‑blind or color hue test for preventing quality defects on running product.
• May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Willing to work in all types of weather.
