School Nurse - Westwood School

Job purpose:

The school nurse will support student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school. The school nurse will be responsible for addressing the health needs of students and staff when needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs student health procedures and assists students with administration of medication
• Communicates and collaborates with school personnel, nursing administration, students and families in a professional manner and with appropriate frequency about school health issues
• Document, compile, and analyze data for reports on school health services
• Ensure the use of proper forms, permission slips, and schedules for dispensing medication
• Evaluates student injury reports and record as needed/requested.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and material
• Maintains updated health records on students
• Ensures primary workstation and responsibilities are covered at all times during the working day
• Plans and implements school health management protocols
• Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, growth, etc.
• Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessment
• Provides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school district.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Program
• Must hold valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license
• Must hold valid certification for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Work Calendar:

This position works 7 hours a day, 183 days

Salary Range:

$23,442 - $35,740
