College/Department InformationOur mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and potential for wellness.
ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to:
- Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse – responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Guides patient teaching, nursing activities, and ancillary personnel. Promotes a customer-friendly environment and provides superior service to youth, facility staff, family, and outside vendors.
- Licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia.
- 1 year of previous experience in a clinical setting.
- Good organizational and decision-making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co-workers.
- Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.
- Current Healthcare Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs; normal bending, reaching, stooping; stand and sit for long periods; move quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes); normal hearing and vision (with corrective devices) as needed; ability to perform BCLS.
- Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
