Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves data analysis, incident investigation, training administration, and acting as the primary liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulations.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors within the plant and recommend corrective actions. Investigate incidents, injuries, and property losses, preparing detailed reports and presentations.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and ensure accurate reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new employees and maintain the New Hire Onboarding Matrix.
  • Organize and oversee mandatory safety training, including forklift operation, lockout/ tagout procedures, and equipment safety.
  • Provide supervisors and group leaders with safety training materials for weekly and monthly safety meetings.
  • Identify gaps in training programs through analysis of injury and illness data, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental permits and regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Manage the contractor safety program, ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
  • Serve as the point of contact for OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory inspections, assisting inspection personnel as needed.
  • Maintain and organize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals on-site.
  • Supervise and support safety teams and initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
  • Manage property and casualty insurance claims, as well as the administration of workers compensation program.
  • Recommend and manage the safety capital expenditure budget.
  • Perform Management of Change (MOC) processes new equipment and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
  • Serve as a safety mentor for visitors and contractors to ensure adherence to plant safety protocols.
  • Support additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager(s) or Regional EHS Director.
  • Tour plant floor daily. Engage employees around near misses and observations observed

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial safety management, Environmental Science, or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a safety role within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • In depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess data and identify trends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs.
  • Promote a safety culture through employee engagements and follow through on employee concerns.
