Position Summary

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment as listed above.
  • Inspect, test, and use diagnostic instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges) to identify malfunctions.
  • Road test vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
  • Identify problems, use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives.
  • Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with clients to assess needs and resolve problems.
  • Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work on Repair Orders via iOS device and TRAIT application; upload pictures, parts used, and findings.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation.
  • Manage own daily schedule with high independence.
  • Adhere to safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or comparable combination of education or 5 years’ experience).
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical or provide valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining.
  • Be at least 21 years old (interstate operating authority).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
  • Understand implications of new information for both current and future problem solving.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
