Head Mechanic

Mohawk Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled Head Mechanic to provide facility‑wide mechanical maintenance support, minimize production downtime, and ensure efficient, high‑quality operations at our Dalton, GA facility and other sites.

• Troubleshoot and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Install machinery and equipment for manufacturing, facility, and plant systems.
• Fabricate and modify machinery components as directed.
• Participate in preventative maintenance tasks and procedures.
• Perform engine, transmission, and differential rebuilds as needed.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• Experience with Stick and MIG welding (demonstration required).
• Experience cutting and torching.
• Proficient with drill press and hand drill.
• Experience using a pipe threader.
• Experience with broaching and keyways.
• Experience with straight‑edge machine alignment and belt tensioning.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and steam systems.
• Must work from heights up to 120 ft and in non‑permit required confined spaces.
• Must work in weather extremes.
• Must be able to move freely throughout a manufacturing facility and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling plant equipment weighing over 100 lb.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime with little or no notice.

• Dial indication and laser machine alignment
• Spring pin and harmonic/laser belt tensioning
• Concrete forming and pouring

The role is based in Dalton, GA, with travel obligations to other Mandatories, which may include mandatory overnight stays. Mandatories must be willing to accept mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatory mandatories.
