Position Summary
The Electrician will work in conjunction with the maintenance, production, and engineering departments. The primary job responsibility is to provide electrical support to the Tufting Department regarding equipment troubleshooting, electrical device installation, new equipment installation, and developing and implementing equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation.
Job Description- Repair electrical problems for industrial carpet manufacturing processes.
- Install electrical conduit, wiring, design circuits and estimate costs.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting of equipment and processes using electrical theory, meters, manuals, schematics.
- Troubleshoot motors, controllers, VFDs, technical sensors, lasers, and situation monitors.
- Assist maintenance staff with debugging machine controllers, motors, motor controls, and sensors in a timely and efficient manner using Tarkett standard techniques.
- Communicate with the project team to maintain project awareness.
- Collaborate with controls engineers and technicians to keep PLC, HMI, camera system schematics and backup programs current and correct.
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED, or 5–7 years of experience or technical training in electrical troubleshooting, basic electricity, motors, VFDs, and motor controls, or an equivalent combination.
- Associate’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering is a plus.
- May be required for advancement to Controls Technician.
- Trained and accountable for lock‑out/tag‑out policies and procedures.
- Self‑starter, team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing projects.
- Works independently without direct supervision.
- Initiates and installs suggestions for upgrading electrical components and improving manufacturing processes.
- Reads and comprehends simple instructions, electrical schematics, short correspondence, and memos.
- Effectively presents information in one‑on‑one and small group settings to customers, clients, and coworkers.
- Calculates electrical ratios, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Interprets written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
- Maintains hand/eye coordination, uses hand, air, and electrical power tools, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, speaks, and listens.
- Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Requires close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
