Tran South Logistics specializes in trucking, deliveries, and warehousing. Our distribution centers are located throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.
Seeking an experienced and dependable CDL-A Floater Driver to join our growing fleet in Braselton, GA, Dalton, GA and Charlotte, NC. This is a sleep cab position covering accounts across the Southeast United States. As a Floater Driver, you will serve as a key resource for our operations team stepping in wherever coverage is needed and keeping our accounts running smoothly.
This role demands flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to safety and service excellence.
This position is primarily Monday–Friday with the expectation that drivers are home most weekends. However, some weekend work may be required based on account needs. As a floater, flexibility in scheduling is essential to the success of this role.
Truck DriverJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive a tractor trailer
- Operate a sleeper cab truck across a variety of accounts throughout the Southeast U.S.
- Serve as a floater driver, providing coverage for any account requiring driver support
- Handle both no-touch freight and touch-freight loads as assigned
- Maintain accurate and timely logs in compliance with FMCSA Hours of Service regulations
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Communicate proactively with your transportation manager regarding stops, backhauls, and scheduling
- Uphold Tran South's safety and quality standards on every run
- Represent Tran South professionally at all customer locations
- Transport goods from the place of origin to assigned destination
- Ensure contents are properly secured inside the truck to prevent breakage or damage
- Obtain signatures to confirm and complete deliveries with customers
- Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries
- Communicate with dispatch as needed
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply with DOT regulations and make safety a priority at all times
- Valid Class A driver’s license required
- 1 year of proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred
- Clean driving record with no more than 1 moving violation
- Haz Mat Endorsement
- Tanker Endorsement
- Willingness to cover various accounts and adapt to changing routes and schedules
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Must pass a background check and DOT drug and alcohol test
- Skilled at driving large vehicles
- Comfortable maneuvering, parking and backing a tractor-trailer
- Alert, focused, and detail oriented
- Proficient using GPS and E-log systems
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
