Job Summary:

As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 for DDS, you will help make everyday life possible for thousands of State of Georgia residents. The successful candidate in this role can make a positive impact on the lives of their customers that walk in whether its issuing learners permit to teens, welcoming newcomers by converting out-of-state licenses, awarding driver licenses to the first-time drivers by administering examinations or issuing identity cards in compliance with state laws and regulations.

The focus of this position is working with and through others within established guidelines. The ability to interact comfortably with a diverse population is important. The successful candidate in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in helping others. Patience and attention to detail is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, accurately and efficiently.

High-volume centers cater to a larger customer base and consequently experience higher frequencies of incidents such as dealing with irate customers, slip and falls, road test crashes, sick customers, etc. May serve as team lead to lower-level staff.

Career Mobility:

DDS believes in internal mobility and career advancement opportunities for our employees with satisfactory performance to transition from Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 2 with an increase of 10%. Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 After 12 months of employment $1600 After 18 months of employment (promotion to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists
2) $1600 Certified Commercial Identity and Driver Credential Specialists at Commercial Customer Service Centers will receive a stipend each pay period.

Major Service Area (MSA)

DDS Customer Service Centers with a high volume of transactions (minimum of 40,000 annually) are considered MSA Centers. The agency will conduct an MSA Assessment every twenty-four months to determine if CSCs need to be added or removed from the MSA Category. The Team Members assigned to an MSA Center receive a $3,500 supplement. The following conditions apply to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists hired after July 1, 2026, which will result in loss of the $3,500 supplement: transfer from an MSA Center to a non-MSA Center transfer to Headquarters CSC is removed from the MSA Category

Duties:
  • Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.
  • Accompanying drivers in vehicles for commercial skills test and in both a traditional and virtual capacity for non-commercial skills tests, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia’s driving laws.
  • Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.
  • Operating visual testing equipment.
  • Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age
  • Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required
  • A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
  • At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years
