Driver B

Pay: $24.38 - $28.85

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

Damascus, Oregon

At PARR, our Drivers are essential to fulfilling the needs of our customers by ensuring timely, safe, and high‑quality delivery of building materials. The ideal driver is focused on maintaining safety regulations and delivering outstanding customer service.

Qualifications
  • Class B CDL or higher
  • Must be 21 years old or over
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reporting of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience
  • Open and transparent communication
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • Driving experience within 50‑mile radius of primary location preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle
  • Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports
  • Demonstrate commitment to on-time and in-full deliveries
  • Learn and use route planning and optimization
  • Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after each delivery
  • Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of all equipment
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Perform required safety audits of the vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents
  • Annually update driver's qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Find productive work to do during downtime
  • Keep truck supplied, organized, and clean
  • Come to work professionally attired
  • Check load for accuracy
  • Proactively manage job site conditions for next delivery and communicate with others
  • Always provide required paperwork and scanning for dispatch
  • Seek to learn products and their application for the end users
  • Demonstrate legal and thorough knowledge of tie‑down rules and regulations
  • Understand weight, height, and length limits
  • Ensure that all material transported on the truck has either an invoice or Material Returns Form
  • Learn best practices related to efficient loading, strapping, and driving
Truck‑Mounted Forklift Operation
  • Safely operate a truck‑mounted forklift to load, unload, and place materials at customer locations and job sites
  • Conduct daily inspections of the forklift, mounting system, hydraulics, forks, chains, and safety devices
  • Properly mount and dismount the forklift from the truck according to manufacturer and company procedures
  • Lift, transport, and place materials (including lumber, building materials, or palletized freight) with precision and care to prevent product damage
  • Assess job‑site conditions (ground stability, slope, clearance, overhead hazards) before forklift operation
  • Maintain safe exclusion zones during unloading and ensure customer and bystander safety
  • Follow all forklift safety protocols, including load limits, stability guidelines, and proper fork positioning

This is a safety‑sensitive position. Drivers will be working at a lumber yard and making deliveries at job sites in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to sit for an extended period of time
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and walk
