SR. Route Salesman Responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
As part of the KSA sales team the primary role of this position is to maximize sales volume, minimize stales, achieve distribution targets, implement agreed merchandising standards, collect accounts receivable, and maintain high levels of customer service. Operating procedures must be followed to ensure continuity of standards across the KSA to support these primary job functions. In addition to these duties the Route Salesman will provide his supervisor with the latest market information to develop sales opportunities.
He/she will attend training courses to improve professionalism and customer service and complete a daily debriefing with his/her supervisor.
Sell the full range of products to an agreed list of customers. Sales will be measured against previously agreed targets. Levels of stales must be below the agreed target provided by the supervisor. The customers are to receive the approved service. Call frequencies and daily route plans are key to maintaining customer satisfaction demanded by the company.
Carry out the daily and weekly vehicle checks as outlined in the operating procedures. The salesman is responsible for maintaining the sales vehicle in a clean and roadworthy condition and reporting any defects or damage promptly.
Supply ready‑to‑ship customer orders on time, including full delivery details. Maintain individual customer stock levels to agreed requirements to minimize out‑of‑stock problems.
Implement agreed in‑store merchandising communicated by the supervisor. When additional support from a company merchandiser is available, coordinate arrangements with the supervisor.
Advise the supervisor of any relevant competitor activity in the area served. Perform daily reconciliation of all cheques, cash, and credit sales. Maintain a neat, presentable appearance. Uphold a high standard of driving and obey driving regulations.
The following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will be used to measure performance. Failure to consistently deliver the required results may lead to disciplinary action.
QualificationsEXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in sales and account building.
- Communication skills.
- Negotiation skills.
- Conflict management.
- Sales planning.
- Basic accounting skills.
