Selby Jennings is partnering with a leading advisory firm seeking a Vice President to join its Financial Advisory Team in Dana Point, CA. The role focuses on executing and originating advisory engagements in M&A, valuations, due diligence, and broader financial consulting within the wealth advisory space, serving clients across the RIA, retirement, life insurance, and wealth management sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary client contact on M&A and financial consulting engagements, owning strategy, execution, and delivery.
- Lead both sell‑side and buy‑side transactions, including financial modeling, due diligence, buyer/seller outreach, deal structuring, negotiation, and process management through close.
- Drive business development by identifying new opportunities, deepening client relationships, and positioning the firm as a strategic advisor.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to support deal flow and long‑term growth.
- Oversee project execution, including timeline management, quality control, and preparation of client‑ready materials.
- Mentor and manage junior team members, providing direction, feedback, and performance oversight.
- Contribute to thought leadership through industry insights, market commentary, and published content.
- Stay current on industry trends and incorporate best practices into client solutions and service offerings.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or JD) a plus.
- Relevant certifications (CPA, CVA, CPCU, AM&AA) preferred.
- 6‑10+ years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate development, or related financial services.
- Proven track record of leading deal teams and managing client relationships.
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Willingness to obtain required licenses through the firm's affiliated broker‑dealer.
- Ability to travel up to ~40% as needed.
