Crane Operator - Southern California

Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane (cab or ground controlled) to lift, move, and position loads such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials by performing the following duties. Operate, maintain crane, barge and all related rigging and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned.

* Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.

* Manipulates or depresses crane controls such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speedand direction of crane and hoist movement.

* Uses hoisting attachments such as hook, sling, electromagnet, or bucket as load requires.

* Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism.

* Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions.

When Pile driving work is unavailable successful candidate will perform dock installation duties as needed which include but are not limited to:

* Performs construction of marinas by installing floating docks in the water at the job site perblueprint specifications and per direction of Crew Lead and/or Construction Project Manager;

* Operates equipment and machinery in a knowledgeable, safe, and effective manner;

* Follows and applies safety rules and techniques;

* Reports any problems with construction duties to supervisor;

* May operate forklift to transport floats; places and aligns floats into correct order and position,following blueprint specifications;

* Uses hardware, such as bolts, washers, rods, lumber, and uses necessary hand tools;

* Positions and fastens all required hardware and materials onto floats using wrenches, rubbermallets, and others appropriate tools, ensuring floats are assembled correctly

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
