Bookkeeper

Our client is a well-established, family-owned, full-service property management and development company serving the Greater Danbury area. They are seeking a reliable, well-organized Bookkeeper with real estate or property management experience to support day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in clean, accurate records, enjoys bringing order to complexity, and values accountability and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date financial records across a real estate and property management portfolio
  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger activity on a consistent and timely basis
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and on-schedule payments
  • Track and manage expenses related to real estate transactions and development projects
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and tax documentation
  • Partner with internal teams on day-to-day financial matters
  • Take ownership of responsibilities while adapting to evolving business needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of bookkeeping experience; background in property management, real estate, or construction strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 300 Timberline is a strong plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently
  • Self-directed, dependable, and able to handle sensitive financial information with discretion
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively in a small, close-knit environment
