Title

Department Assistant – Emergency Department – Danbury, CT – Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Summary

Responsible for performing various administrative, secretarial and clerical duties. Understands and follows the organization's policies, procedures and standards. Is an independent worker, meeting the day-to-day needs of the administrative team. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Greets visitors, directs visitors appropriately; maintains the communication flow of the office.
  • Prepares reports, memos, correspondence, meeting minutes, and special projects for the Administrative team as requested.
  • Reviews and edits all written materials.
  • Maintains the Administrative team appointment calendars.
  • Answers the telephone in a professional manner; screens calls, takes messages, directs calls appropriately.
  • Sorts, logs and distributes all incoming mail; identifies mail that needs immediate attention.
  • Prepares financial reports; department activities, travel, business expenses, etc.
  • Maintains an organized, efficient digital filing system for easy retrieval.
  • Records, prepares and distributes meeting minutes as requested.
  • Orders supplies and printing weekly. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Interacts professionally with all visitors, within the department/office and with other departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized during stressful situations.
  • Provides administrative support by tracking, updating, and entering provider licensure certifications and other compliance-related information.
  • Assists administrative team in maintaining Provider Time Off information in structured spreadsheets to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Accepts and completes other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains and models Nuvance Health values.
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

Salary

$17.00 – $31.36 per hour
