The City of Danbury is announcing an opening for the position of PT Media Specialist
Statement of Duties:This is a Media Specialist position specifically engaged in the recording and streaming of Public Meetings and Presentations.
Operates the microphone and camera systems. Sets up and monitors recording and streaming services for all public meetings.
Enhances and uploads recording files to the Public Meeting Archive system. This is a highly technical hands-on position that is responsible for recording public meetings and ensuring live streaming services are available for these meetings.
Coordinates audio-visual equipment and materials. Maintain supplies and equipment (cameras, microphones, and computers assigned/deployed to the City Council Chambers).
Set up and operates computer presentations as requested such as PowerPoint presentations or Videos.
This is a part-time position reporting directly to the Director of Technology (or their designee).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates Public Meeting recording and streaming. Updates content and provides maintenance to keep AV computer interactives in working order.
- Produces media content from public meetings, assists with scripting, shooting and directing videographers and contractors.
- Runs microphones and camera recordings systems for public meetings
- Finalizes all public meeting recordings, “trims out” footage that is before and after gavel.
- Uploads all public meeting finalized recordings to the city’s Public Meeting archive system.
- Coordinates vendors in the repair of all A/V public meeting equipment. This includes: microphones, video/audio encoders, meeting management systems, cameras, and computer technology. (May be required to setup portable cameras for backup recordings).
- As required:
Assists staff with setup and operation of presentations in all conference rooms at City Hall. - MUST be flexible and able to work afternoons and evenings
- May be required to work weekends on occasion to meet deadlines
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
:
- Ability to specify, install and maintain IT/AV equipment and/or components.
- Ability to use video and audio editing and recording equipment and software.
- Knowledge of authoring software for media such as audio, video and images.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience and Training:
- Knowledge of audiovisual and computer equipment, skills for troubleshooting and maintenance
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and problem-solving
- Considerable knowledge of media equipment such as cameras, computers and recorders.
- Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing
Education
Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent or an associate degree in audio visual technology or a related field.
