Librarian; Part-time at Danbury Library

The City of Danbury is announcing an opening for the position of PT Librarian

Statement of Duties:

Under the supervision of the Librarian II, the part-time Librarian provides general reference and reader’s advisory services in the Adult Services and Youth Services Departments. They provide technical support to patrons using computers and other electronic devices, and assist patrons using the library’s digital services. The part-time Librarian plans and conducts regular programming based on community need and interest, and attends outreach events as needed.

The candidate should have knowledge of professional library principles, familiarity with digital collections, strong interpersonal and reference interview skills, and the ability to keep current with rapidly changing technology.

The part-time Librarian resolves problems, and acts as a role model for exemplary customer service among staff and colleagues.

Schedule is 19 hours per week.

Scheduled shifts are either 10 am – 3 pm, or 3 pm – 8 pm, and Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm. This position is also in charge on the weekends in the absence of the weekend supervisor.

Qualifications: A candidate must possess a ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated oral and written communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to handle detail orientated work . A strong commitment to public service.
