Purpose:
To serve as an integral member of the classroom instructional team by supporting the Head Teacher and assisting in providing services that align with the district's mission to educate preschool children to higher levels.
Job Responsibilities:
* Implement classroom activities and weekly curriculum plans as directed by the Head Teacher.
* Support curriculum implementation using the CT Early Learning and Development Guidelines, NAEYC Standards, and assist with child observations aligned to CT DOTS as appropriate for a substitute role.
* Supervise children in the classroom, on the playground, and during field trips.
* Maintain a safe, nurturing, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment that encourages independence.
* Work collaboratively with classroom staff to provide integrated services.
* Participate in team meetings, family events, and staff trainings when scheduled or required.
* Support maintenance of classroom records, including communication with parents, lesson materials, and preparation for individualized child goals.
* Assist with daily routines, transitions, and learning center activities.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Completion of at least 2 years of college coursework in Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, Human Development, or a related field.
* Child Development Credential (CDA) or Associate's Degree preferred.
* Experience working in a classroom setting with responsibility for at least 10 children.
* Ability to work collaboratively with classroom staff.
* Willingness to attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
* First Aid and CPR certification, valid good health certificate, and successful fingerprinting/background check required.
Salary:
* $16.94 per hour
Schedule:
* On-call substitute, available for part-day or full-day assignments as needed.
