Responsibilities
  • Provide strong instructional practices in literacy, aligned to curriculum standards
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students
  • Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions
  • Continuously collaborate with school team members to ensure fidelity of learner expectations across the school environment
  • Other duties as may be assigned

  • Ability to implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Desire to work with students who struggle with regulating behavior and social‑emotional responses
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Active Connecticut Certification in Language Arts (#015)
  • Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Preference for those who hold an active Special Education Certification (#065, #165, #265) or are pursuing cross‑endorsement
