- Provide strong instructional practices in literacy, aligned to curriculum standards
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students
- Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions
- Continuously collaborate with school team members to ensure fidelity of learner expectations across the school environment
- Other duties as may be assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
- Desire to work with students who struggle with regulating behavior and social‑emotional responses
- Active Connecticut Certification in Language Arts (#015)
- Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job
- Preference for those who hold an active Special Education Certification (#065, #165, #265) or are pursuing cross‑endorsement
