Job Overview

Amentum is looking for a Submarine Peculiar Special & Support Equipment Engineering Technician V to provide Program Engineering Services to Commander, Naval Submarine Force Atlantic—COMSUBLANT (TYCOM), Submarine Squadron Six and Eight (CSS‑6/8), and Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF New London).

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, certification, and assessment of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans located in Groton, CT and Norfolk, VA.
• Maintain and repair weight‑handling equipment such as Platform Lifting Slings, Ballast Can Lifting Slings, Adaptor Hooks, Nylon Slings, TMD Lifting Harness Assemblies, Taglines, Pendent Slings, Torpedo Handling Bands, and CLS Handling Bands.
• Execute all maintenance on Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms (R‑10) including blasting, paint, hardware replacement, and structural repairs.
• Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance for 688, VA, and Columbia Class platforms (minimum four procedures annually) in accordance with directives and technical manuals.
• Perform Operational Procedures (OPs) on AURVSs, AURES (Mk 101 & Mk 112), TOTEMS, missile tube ballast cans, AURBb’s, torpedo shapes, and other PSSE elements based on technical manuals and local instructions.
• Maintain certification of all PSSE equipment, documenting maintenance and repairs per technical manuals, drawings, and TLMD.
• Maintain HAZMAT lockers and regulatory compliance for hazardous materials used during maintenance.
• Keep a database of PSSE locations and maintenance status, updating government databases as required.
• Support all shipping, receiving, and handling evolutions for VLS, VPT platforms, and other PSSE components, including stenciling of containers.
• Provide waterfront (Pier) technical support during delivery, loading, off‑loading, and storage of PSSE equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and certification of associated lifting equipment.
• Coordinate non‑ordnance handling activities with MARMC, CSS‑6/8, and Naval Munitions Command, attending weekly pier de‑confliction meetings and submitting schedules and forms as required.
• Transport hull‑owned equipment (e.g., VACL Berthing Module) to or from the waterfront for submarine use, with a travel limit of 200 miles.

• A minimum of 8 years of full‑time, hands‑on design, installation, test, and repair experience with mechanical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• At least 6 years of recent (within the last 10 years) hands‑on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and repair of PSSE incorporated in submarine PSSE non‑ordnance handling systems.
• Active Secret U.S. government clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Hourly rate: $37.68 – $40.00. Overtime eligible. Health and welfare payments may apply per the Service Contract Act (SCA).
