Overview
We are seeking an experienced VFD Specialist to support a Rockwell Automation distribution business. Located on-site in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, relocation support for ideal candidate. This role requires deep technical expertise in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related power components, along with the ability to work closely with the sales team to develop, present, and propose complete drive solutions for industrial customers.
The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals, application experience, and customer-facing communication skills to help define, demonstrate, and deliver technically sound automation solutions.
- Specify and design complete VFD solutions, including Variable Frequency Drives (Rockwell Automation preferred)
- Line reactors, filters, and related power conditioning components
- Evaluate customer requirements and recommend technically correct, application-appropriate solutions
- Read, interpret, and review electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and panel layouts
- Manage sales strategy of the VFD/MCC Product lines
- Create sales initiatives to stimulate sales growth
- Provide technical support to the sales team, including:
- Pre-sales technical consultations
- Solution validation
- Bill of material (BOM) development
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training to customers and internal teams
- Assist in preparing and presenting technical proposals to customers, including solution descriptions and justifications
- Support customer meetings, site visits, and application reviews as needed
- Act as a trusted technical resource for VFD-related questions and troubleshooting guidance
- Collaborate with Rockwell Automation and internal engineering resources when required
- 5–10+ years of experience working with VFDs in industrial or automation environments
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Low-voltage industrial drives
- Motor control and protection
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, or related field required)
- Experience supporting or working alongside a technical sales organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with customer-facing confidence
- Ability to conduct on-site customer consultations, travel across Connecticut 3 days a week
