Full‑time Outpatient – Physical Therapist – Danbury Hospital
Dept hours – M‑Th 7 am‑8 pm, F 7 am‑5 pm. Two evenings per week required; no weekends.
SummaryPhysical Therapy provides services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain with emphasis on physical dysfunction. Such therapy encompasses evaluation and analysis of patients and therapeutic application, physical and chemical agents, exercise, instruction to patient/family, and other procedures to maximize functional independence.
Responsibilities- Performs therapy evaluations, treatment planning and implementation utilizing department clinical guidelines & protocols; participates in team conference/rounds for coordination of patients’ plan of care.
- Provides patient/family education and training.
- Provides peer review and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.
- Initiates discharge planning involving patient, family and team members as appropriate; recommends equipment to meet patient needs.
- Attends 20 hours of continuing education per year; provides 2 hours of in‑service education per year to staff.
- Provides full‑time clinical experience to students.
- Acts as mentor to lower level staff.
- Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluation of assistive personnel; delegates to support personnel.
- Seeks guidance from higher level staff as needed.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience:
one year. Connecticut State Physical Therapy License.
FIM certification in Physical Therapy rehab settings. CPR Certification. Bachelor’s degree and minimum one year of experience.
Working Conditions- Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
- Occupational: significant occupational risk.
- Physical Effort: very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force.
- Physical Environment: some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
