$8,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified external Patient Category Techs. To qualify, candidates must be from outside the Nuvance Health Network and have at least one full year of PCT experience.
SummaryProvides assistance with patient care activities and other unit tasks under the general supervision of licensed professional staff and as directed by the manager.
Responsibilities- Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point of care (POC) testing.
- Implements nursing orders promptly and adequately with an understanding of their purpose.
- Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment.
- Provides patient comfort by positioning, bathing, straightening linens, and putting personal articles within reach with courtesy and responsiveness.
- Ensures patient safety through preventative measures such as side rails, restraints, bed/chair exit alarms, and hourly rounding.
- Enters all data into the computer system as applicable.
- Communicates patient and visitor information and observations to the appropriate personnel.
- Provides age‑appropriate care and demonstrates knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
- Reports and records any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior; reports all unusual conditions or reactions to the nurse in charge.
- Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process, exercising good judgment to set priorities for activities.
- Uses effective working relationships with all health‑care team members, patients, and significant others.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work environment with a clean, well‑stocked work area and assists with maintaining unit equipment.
- Works as a safety attendant/patient sitter by providing a safe environment for specific patients and follows WCHN standards of service excellence.
- Attends staff meetings and reads/signs 100% of meeting minutes.
- Maintains competency for Basic Life Support certification.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum formal education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred but not required. Zero to six months of job‑related experience required. Active CNA certification is preferred. BLS/CPR required within 90 days of start date or upon completion of the orientation process, whichever comes first.
