Network / Infrastructure Technician (Datacenter/MDF/IDF) Overview
The duration of this assignment is for 6 months with the possibility of an extension supporting a valued Client of American Info Systems (AIS). Qualified candidates will be engaged to assist with triage, troubleshooting and issue resolution for servers, storage, network devices and infrastructure within Datacenters, MDF and IDF's. Work is performed on-site at client End User facilities or co-locations/data centers.
This position will start with 20 hours per week for a trial period then 40 hours per week assuming the individual meets expectations. Shift will be Tuesday - Saturday 9:00AM - 5:00PM.

- Patching – Copper: familiar with tracing, patching and troubleshooting copper (Cat 5e / Cat
6) cables at the patch panel, device and / or station. - Patching – Fiber: familiar with tracing, patching and troubleshooting fiber at the patch panel or device. Experience handling and dressing fiber cabling is a must. Able to clean fiber. Working knowledge of the various types of Fiber Connectors.
- Cable Management skills is a must.
- Infrastructure Repair: familiar with using a 4-pair test-set or Fluke test device. Able to terminate copper cables at the patch panel or station (install network jacks). Familiarity with 110 and 66 blocks is a must.
- Server & Storage: able to assess system alerts, replace failed hardware such as hot-swappable disks, power supplies and other field serviceable components. A basic understanding of RAID is a must.
- Network: able to connect to devices with a console port / cable and execute basic command-line statements for diagnostics and commissioning.
- Rack & Stack: familiar with cabinets, racks, configuring rail depth and installation hardware. Able to properly install, secure and cable manage rack-mounted devices.
- Smart-phone capable of mobile email and mobile web-browsing (Mandatory)
- Technicians multi-screwdriver
- 110/66 Impact-punch-down tool
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
- Ability to be detailed oriented since these are active production environments requiring that no action is taken that can impact an active device without prior client approval
- Able to work with and update a web-based ticketing portal in a timely fashion
Associates degree or comparable technical certificates - 2+ Years’ Experience
- Familiarity with POTS and circuits (T1, DS3)
- Valid Driver’s License and vehicle
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00/hr no Benefits.
