The RoleThe primary focus areas will be Planning and Production Control for the onsite X83 Newport News Shipbuilding Field office at Electric Boat Groton, CT. This position coordinates planning and material management efforts for Columbia and Virginia Class Submarines across multiple disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Sheet metal, and Piping.
Responsibilities include planning, preparing, issuing and controlling production schedules; coordinating material requirements; advising management of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems; scheduling equipment and personnel; preparing work orders or purchase requests; coordinating interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, and traffic; and scheduling and expediting the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and shipping orders.
MustHave
Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate’s Degree or other formal 2‑year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non‑exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E‑5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non‑exempt experience
A candidate should possess a well‑rounded knowledge of company operations, production processes, shop processes, ship systems, network scheduling techniques, and planning methods. The individual will work closely with the Program office, NNS Planning and Production Control, Construction Project and the Shipboard Trades. Good communication and teamwork skills are required. Incumbent will utilize Microsoft Office, SAP, Artemis, and Teamcenter/NX.
