Position Overview

Provides professional nursing care and assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Utilizes the nursing process in collaboration with other health care team members. Per diem, assigned to the Behavioral Health unit with coverage in the emergency department as needed.

Responsibilities

Performs ongoing assessments focused on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.

Formulates goal‑directed plans of care prioritized and based on nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.

Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.

Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources.

Evaluates effectiveness of care and patient progression toward outcomes.

Identifies patient or significant other learning needs and implements appropriate measures.

Coordinates interdisciplinary functions.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

State of Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.
BLS certification.
Minimum six months of current RN experience in Psych/Behavioral Health.
Ability to work in an inpatient unit and provide coverage in the emergency department.

Desired Qualifications

Nursing certification.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Working Conditions:

Significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity; significant occupational risk; very heavy effort with up to 50 lbs exertion; exposure to dirt, odor, noise, human waste, etc.
