CHD is seeking an Outreach Caseworker to join our growing Planning and Implementing Housing Options for Long-term Success (PILOTS) team in Danbury, CT. Through this program, the Outreach Caseworker PILOTS staff will use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction.
Your Role as a PILOTS Support SpecialistAs a PILOTS Support Specialist, you will assist program participants to live independently in the community by addressing their mental and physical health, substance use, employment and housing needs. PILOT’s staff use a counseling approach that uses both motivational interviewing and harm-reduction. You will help the participants with:
- Securing housing, move‑in, relocations, interventions in eviction processes, rent arrears and housing stability.
- Assisting participants with budgeting and banking.
- Helping participants obtain and maintain entitlements.
- Providing crisis intervention.
- Providing vocational assistance; resume writing, interview preparation, and job search assistance.
The Support Specialist should actively support the philosophy of the agency and maintain a high level of commitment to program participants and staff. Personality traits should include:

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co‑occurring population preferred.
- Must be comfortable engaging clients in the community for the majority of the position.
- Field visits within the surrounding communities to see clients.
- Registered & insured vehicle and approved driving record check.
- Approved criminal background check.
1st shift, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm. Days on:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Days off:
Saturday and Sunday.
Pay rate is $20.00 hourly, along with a phenomenal benefit package that includes Dental, Health and Life insurance. Paid time off, earned vacation time and paid holidays, and mileage reimbursement just to name a few.
