Adult Education Teacher
Killingly Public Schools is seeking an adult education teacher for our Adult Education Program for Connecticut residents aged 17 and older who are no longer enrolled in public school.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) focuses on foundational skills like reading, writing, math, and language, often preparing adults for high school equivalency (GED) or further education, and sometimes including life skills and digital literacy.
GED Preparation GED classes prepare individuals for the General Educational Development tests, which are a series of four academic subject tests that can lead to a high school equivalency credential, covering subjects like language arts, math, science, and social studies.
ABE & GED Instructor: $35/hr classes are typically held in the afternoon and evenings.
Adult education teachers in Connecticut hold a bachelor's degree and either a Connecticut teaching certificate or an adult education authorization (106/107 certificate) through the State Department of Education.
106/107 Certification:
- 106 - Anyone with a teaching certificate can apply for this, it's only an endorsement
- 107 - Anyone with a college degree with a special education class can apply
