Mental Health Worker
Work where every moment matters. Every day, more than 40,000 Hartford Health Care colleagues come to work with a shared sense of purpose—knowing that every moment matters. Join Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut's leading provider of mental health and substance use disorder services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our comprehensive continuum of care includes inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, residential treatment programs, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools, and chemical dependency programs. Through our multi-site network, we are committed to helping individuals find their way toward recovery while empowering them to take an active role in their care.
The Joshua Center Programs at Natchaug Hospital provide specialized behavioral health services for children and adolescents ages 5-18 who are experiencing psychiatric or substance use challenges but do not require inpatient hospitalization.
Services include:
- Comprehensive assessments and individualized treatment planning
- Family, group, and individual therapy
- Occupational and creative rehabilitation therapies
- Aftercare planning and care coordination
To support participation in treatment, Natchaug Hospital provides transportation from school to the Joshua Center Program and then home following services.
The Mental Health Worker plays a key role in providing support and interventions for children and adolescents receiving services through the Program. As a valued member of the treatment team, the Mental Health Worker partners with the Clinician to help create a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Communicate concerns, request assistance, and work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to support children and adolescents experiencing challenging behavioral or emotional needs.
Responsibilities include facilitating activities, running group meetings with 10-12 clients, supporting clients' treatment goals, maintaining a safe environment, daily case note documentation and providing transportation using company vehicles from school to the Joshua Center Program and from the program to the student's home. This position requires flexibility to provide support at other Natchaug Hospital locations as operational needs require. Sites may include Dayville, Enfield, Mansfield, Groton, Norwich, or Vernon.
