Position: Social Media Coordinator (Stipend)

District Social Media Coordinator

Compensation: $2,500 Annual Stipend

This is a stipend position that may be assigned to a current district employee or combined with another district position, based on district needs and the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Position Summary:

The District Social Media Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the district's social media presence by highlighting student achievement, staff accomplishments, school events, athletics, arts, community partnerships, and district initiatives. This position supports the district's communication efforts by creating engaging content that strengthens connections between schools, families, and the community while promoting a positive image of Killingly Public Schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture photos and videos of students, staff, programs, events, and activities throughout the district.
  • Create and publish engaging content for the district's social media platforms.
  • Promote school events, district initiatives, student achievements, athletics, arts, and community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and district staff to identify positive stories happening throughout the district.
  • Maintain a consistent district voice while ensuring all communications reflect the district's mission, values, and branding.
  • Ensure all content complies with student media release requirements, FERPA, copyright laws, and district policies.
  • Maintain a regular posting schedule to ensure timely and engaging communication.
  • Travel between district schools to capture events and activities.
  • Attend occasional evening and weekend events as needed to support district communications.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing social media for a school, nonprofit, business, or organization preferred.
  • Photography and basic videography skills are preferred.
  • Experience with Canva or similar graphic design software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school and district staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
