Part‑Time Assessment Assistant, Center for Alternative Studies
Location:
Lynn & Danvers, MA.
Work schedule:
1‑7pm Wednesday (Danvers), 1‑7pm Thursday (Lynn), 12‑5pm Friday (Danvers), one (or two during peak times) Saturday per month (Lynn/Remote).
SALARY: $36.55/hr; non‑benefited, MCCC unit position.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
:
Under general supervision, this position administers diagnostic computerized placement examinations to new and returning students for English, Reading, and Math placement. Responsibilities include administering and proctoring exams, interpreting scores, explaining results and course recommendations, and entering data into the computer system. Related tasks are performed as directed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Administer and proctor computerized placement examinations, interpret placement scores, and determine course placement and course recommendations based on test scores.
- Administer and proctor other tests as needed (e.g., faculty course testing, HiSET).
- Enter data into BANNER (e.g., test scores) and perform general data management.
- Work with various testing platforms (Exam Soft, Pearson, ATI).
- Perform administrative tasks associated with department activities, such as downloading rosters and checking students in and out of testing.
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks in support of department operations (e.g., CLEP registrations).
- Interact with various agencies and individuals, answer student questions regarding testing, and communicate with other departments, students, advisors, and faculty members.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- At least one year of experience and/or training involving computerized test administration, computer program manipulation, or computer operations in an academic environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Technical proficiency.
- Experience with Banner preferred.
- Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
