Job Summary
The Associate Manager, Risk Management EMS will be responsible for the risk assessment and management of the External Manufacturing and Electrical Systems categories. The role supports the expansion and implementation of risk management best practices across a global supply base, monitors risk opportunities within and outside of Abiomed, and plays a key role in regulatory and compliance initiatives that impact product availability and new product development programs.
Responsibilities- Conduct supply risk assessments for suppliers across holistic risk indicators including strategic, financial, geopolitical, capacity, supply and logistics, cybersecurity, and compliance.
- Support the development and execution of risk mitigation plans for short‑term, annual, and long‑term growth projections in collaboration with category managers.
- Conduct source risk assessments and mitigation plans at the product level, including new products in development.
- Co‑lead the management and development of risk alerts based on risk severity and act with urgency to mitigate risks.
- Support risk management lead and category managers in developing Business Continuity Plans for high‑risk suppliers.
- Develop overall risk management strategy for procurement and embed those strategies into base business practices.
- Collaboratively develop predictive risk management practices and deploy them for procurement scope.
- Embed risk management solutions into sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, and contracting activities.
- Support the business planning process to incorporate risk management projects and required resourcing.
- Manage operational support and maintenance of supplier risk databases for procurement and supply chain teams.
- Own data management, systems, and tools management, and provide project execution support within the risk management group.
- Track and share the supply risk monitoring database with defined periods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations/Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA/MS preferred.
- Experience in procurement or related supply chains highly preferred.
- Exposure to risk management activities advantageous.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with complex data sets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to confidently present complex information.
- Preferred experience in multiple supply‑chain disciplines (External Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Distribution, and/or Quality).
- Familiarity with material categories, including electronics, machining (metal, plastics, ceramics), molding, assembling, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience working across regions and understanding of different markets.
- Strong business acumen with Medical Devices experience, specifically in the Abiomed relevant industry.
- Continuous improvement/lean/six sigma experience; black belt preferred.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP and digital procurement and risk management tools preferred.
- Anticipated base pay range: $94,000 - $151,800.
- Eligible for an annual performance bonus per applicable plan.
