Description
St. John’s Prep is an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12. Grade 6 math/science faculty teach two sections of mathematics and two sections of science each day, focusing on pre-algebra topics and inquiry-based science (physical, life, and earth science). Faculty also serve as advisors to a group of students on their grade-level team. The Middle School program of study can be found here on our website.
Skills And CompetenciesWe are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated effectiveness in interdisciplinary teaching, using technology as a vehicle for learning gains. RequirementsEducation and Experience
- A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching late elementary or middle school mathematics or science (or applicable practicum experience).
- A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in science, mathematics, or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively with a diversity of learning styles and learners.
- Standing/sitting for long periods of time.
- Must be capable of adapting to frequent changes in position throughout the workday.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
- Use of hands and fingers for manipulation, and using computer keyboard, educational tools, and perform first aid and CPR.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
