Salary

Anticipated starting salary is $57,289.00 - $60,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. Full‑time benefited employees at North Shore Community College are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package offered through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  for a highlight of these benefits.

General Statement of Duties

This full‑time Faculty member will be responsible for coordinating the Respiratory Care Program under the guidance of the Dean of Health Professions. He/she will be responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, accreditation standards, and guidelines of the Respiratory Care Program, as well as teaching assigned courses within the program as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Functions
  • Assure that the Respiratory Care program meets standards established by the college and the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Programs (CoARC) by planning, implementing, and continuously evaluating program outcomes.
  • Teaches classroom lectures/labs.
  • Maintains attendance, academic, and other records and submits information as required by the College, State Licensure Boards, and/or the CoARC.
  • Develops the Respiratory Care curriculum, course content, and the selection of textbooks, library materials, and equipment/supplies to facilitate learning respiratory care.
  • Develops departmental budget, prioritizing expenditures, and maintains inventory of existing equipment/supplies.
  • Takes an active interest in and incorporates simulation education into teaching.
  • Demonstrates an ability to teach and motivate in ways appropriate to the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and learning styles of the community college student. Facilitates the application of theory to practice, motivates and stimulates independent learning, uses and demonstrates current technical advances in the field of Respiratory Care and teaching, and works cooperatively with program faculty as a team member.
  • Participates in all college meetings, including department meetings as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Maintains professional credentials by attending workshops, conferences, and other activities designed to award continuing education credits. Maintains current Massachusetts license, current BLS certification, and NBRC credential if applicable.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills?ability to communicate professionally and manage potentially difficult situations.
  • Promotes the College's mission, goals, and objectives and performs all other duties as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Job Requirements
    • Must have an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
    • A minimum of four years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years in clinical respiratory care.
    • Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC‑accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.
    • A valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
    • A valid license as required by the state of Massachusetts to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
    • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students in the community college.
    • Must be a current member of the American Association of Respiratory Care.
    • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
    • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment.
    • Must complete CoARC Key Personnel Training within 24 months of assumption of position.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree
    • LMS experience
    • CoARC accreditation experience
