Job Description

Essex North Shore is seeking a Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies Teacher (0.5 FTE / Half-time) to join its Chapter 74 approved program for the 2026–2027 school year. Candidates should be experienced in metal

, welding
, CNC machinery operation
, and blueprint interpretation

Qualifications
  • Licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Construction OSHA 30 certification within three years of hire.
  • OSHA Train the Trainer within five years of hire.
  • Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS, and SORI.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Map each grade curriculum to the State Frameworks.
  • Provide instruction in the content in accordance with the Massachusetts Vocational‑Technical Frameworks in the specified career area.
  • Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
  • Instruct students in the field when participating in outside projects.
  • Document student performance, student behavior, and student achievement within the career education setting.
  • Provide review and reinforcement of new concepts; support students in the completion of their assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students’ IEPs and necessary accommodations and modifications; modify assignments, tests, and quizzes in collaboration with special educators, if required.
  • Develop resources for students to be successful, such as models, graphic organizers, and copies of class notes, video clips, demonstrations, etc.
  • Participate as a member of the career area department; collaborate with teachers within the department.
  • Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate cross‑curricular and project‑based learning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Cooperative Education Coordinator to place students in their career area.
  • Maintain documentation, including student performance, behavior, progress data, notation of student absences/tardies, and conversations with parents and administrators.
  • Provide content support outside of the general education classroom, as necessary.
  • Integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Respond to any correspondence, both oral and written, that comes from a parent or guardian.
  • Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
  • Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year; attend Open House.
  • Keep current with changes in your career area; collaborate with Advisory Board members.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Coordinator of Career Technical & Agricultural Education.
