Position OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Middle School Spanish Teacher to join the Holten-Richmond Middle School community. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive classroom environment that fosters language acquisition, cultural understanding, and a love of learning. This position emphasizes proficiency-based instruction aligned with Massachusetts World Language standards.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging Spanish instruction for students in grades 6–8
- Design lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for World Languages
- Incorporate all modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs and English learners
- Use culturally responsive teaching practices to connect language learning with real-world contexts
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
- Use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students
- Establish a positive, structured classroom culture that promotes risk-taking and language use
- Set clear expectations for behavior and academic engagement
- Foster student independence and collaboration
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and related service providers
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and common planning time
- Communicate effectively with families about student progress
- Engage in ongoing professional development

Job Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field
- Massachusetts DESE licensure in World Language (Spanish), Grades 5–12 (or eligibility)
- Strong proficiency in Spanish (spoken and written)
- Experience working with middle school students preferred
- Knowledge of proficiency-based language instruction (ACTFL-aligned practices preferred)
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
