Job Description

Essex North Shore is seeking a Metal Fabrication and Joining Technologies Teacher to join its Chapter 74 approved program for the  school year. Candidates should be experienced in metal and sheet metal fabrication, welding, CNC machinery operation, and blueprint interpretation.

Requirements
  • Licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Construction OSHA 30 certification within three years of hire.
  • OSHA Train the Trainer within five years of hire.
  • Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS, and SORI.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Map each grade curriculum to the State Frameworks.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Frameworks in the specified career area.
  • Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
  • Instruct students in the field when participating in outside projects.
  • Document student performance, behavior, and achievement within the career education setting.
  • Provide review and reinforcement of new concepts; support students in completing assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students’ IEPs and necessary accommodations and modifications; collaborate with special educators to modify assignments when required.
  • Develop resources such as models, graphic organizers, class notes, video clips, and demonstrations.
  • Participate as a member of the career area department and collaborate with teachers within the department.
  • Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate cross-curricular and project-based learning.
  • Collaborate with the Cooperative Education Coordinator to place students in their career area.
  • Maintain documentation of student performance, behavior, progress data, absences/tardies, and conversations with parents and administrators.
  • Provide content support outside the general education classroom as necessary.
  • Integrate technology into the curriculum.
  • Respond to correspondence from parents or guardians.
  • Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
  • Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year and open house events.
  • Keep current with changes in your career area; collaborate with Advisory Board members.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as required by the Coordinator of Career Technical & Agricultural Education.
